Parramatta eels deny reports of semi radradra departure from Perth

A semi-radradra flight from Perth to Sydney has been diverted to New Zealand because authorities believe it may have broken the law by heading over the equator.

The plane, which took off from Canberra at 5:15pm last night, is heading to the Auckland Airport after passing over the Taranaki Archipelago, New Zealand.

The airline said it was operating as normal and normal procedure.

"At 7pm we'll take any additional information we can," a spokeswoman for the flight said.

Police are also investigating the plane, but do not expect any significant problems.

The flight's crew is from Singapore and has been operating for the past nine years.

In August 2012 an Australian woman was jailed for 20 years after pleading guilty to causing a serious emergency after heading for a flight in a semi-radradra aircraft.

She said she was worried about her safety on the night of her visit to Perth.
